Unilever - Little Book of Skin

Design, Editorial, Illustration, Digital, Print Management

In March 2012 I was approached by Emma Botton, Strategy Director at Unilever, I was invited to pitch for the design of a new educational document for the 40,000 strong Unilever team to be hosted on their company-wide Sharepoint system.

I returned with a larger concept, a limited edition printed book to be distributed to the more senior members of the company and an interactive application to be hosted on the Unilever intranet.

After winning the pitch I worked closely with the marketing and R&D teams to create an accurate reference book for new and existing staff. I wanted to create the feeling of a vintage reference book, so instead of using stock imagery, I created reference illustrations for the book. These added a quality, unique identity to the book and application.

To create the app I worked with Jamie Laux, a developer I have collaborated with in the past. Producing an app for a large multi-national company such as Unilever created a whole range of challenges, such as integration with existing IT systems, accessibility considerations and clarity.
